Used Mat Grading

New Doesn’t Always Mean Better

When you’re putting a bid together or managing a big project, you know that every penny you save goes right to the bottom line. As a result, you look for savings wherever it can be found. Used construction matting, for example, is one place many job managers look for quick savings. And it’s true, used mats offer a real price advantage over buying new. But used mats can also be tricky.

How can you judge the mat’s true quality? Can you verify how they’ve been stored or how much working life they have left? You can always take the seller at their word, but when you think about how much is riding on your mats, you don’t want to take any unnecessary risks. In these situations, you may want to consider hiring a professional mat grader.

Industrial Matting has graded thousands of mats in the U.S. and Canada. As part of our process, we provide detailed tallies, pictures, and a grading system we use to ensure you’re getting your money’s worth.

Total Transparency for Your Used Mats

When you use Industrial Matting’s professional construction mat grading, here’s what you’ll get: Detailed tallies of mat sizes, detailed tallies of mat grades, detailed tallies of mat locations, detailed pictures of all mats showing sizes and grades, sorted stacks of mats into appropriate grades, dry rot testing, visual examinations for broken timbers and bolts, projected mat usability, and longevity analysis.

This independent and experienced expertise will be invaluable when you decide to purchase used mats. The valuable information they’ll provide will help you make a more informed choice as you purchase these critical construction tools.

When In Doubt, Buy Directly from Us

If buying used mats on the open market sounds too intimidating, you can always buy directly from Industrial Matting. We apply the same rigorous standards to our own stock as we do to used mats we’d help you buy from someone else.

We use a quality control rating system for all our stock so you’ll be confident you’re purchasing the best product at the best price. Here’s how it works:

  • Digital Photographs: All our used mats are photographed and available for review before pick up.
  • Mat Grading: Dry rot and broken timbers and bolts aren’t always visible in pictures, so our graders thoroughly study and test each mat before they’re graded. Then all our used mats are photographed, marked, tallied, and sorted according to grade.
  • Mat History: Understanding how long a mat has been used, what applications it’s been used for, and how it’s been stored between jobs are all important considerations when judging the value of a used mat. Industrial Matting tracks all this information for each of our used pieces so you’ll know precisely what you’re buying.
  • Customer Pick Up: It’s not uncommon for job managers to buy used mats only to discover they’re worthless after they’ve been delivered to the job site. That why Industrial Matting encourages our customers to pick up their used mats so they can review the quality in person and select their preferred mats themselves.

Used mats don’t have to be risky. If you’re interested in saving money by buying used mats, Industrial Matting can help with mat grading or by showing you our own large inventory of used mats. Either way, you save money without sacrificing that important piece of mind.
