Protect Your Matting for Long-Term Use
There’s nothing quite as destructive on a construction site as the tire treads and tracking on heavy equipment. After all, that’s why you’re buying construction matting in the first place. And if you’re not careful, those treads and tracks can damage your matting and as a result, make them less effective at protecting the environment, your equipment, and your crew. Fortunately there’s a simple way to protect your matting so you’ll get years of use out of this important tool.
Transition Ramp Mats Reduce Damage
To use construction matting, you often have to move heavy equipment from the bare ground onto a mat, which might mean crossing a transition of several inches. This is especially true if you’re using timber products like bridge kits, crane mats, or digging mats.
Some equipment pieces – such as large trucks – could have difficulty crossing a tall threshold. While other heavy pieces like backhoes, large cranes, or bulldozers could crush the threshold under the weight of their metal tracks. And over a long period of time, this kind of repeated damage could lead to cracks that might compromise a mat’s structural integrity. That could ultimately lead to environmental and equipment damage, and injury to personnel.
But this damage and risk can be avoided by using transition ramp mats, which makes moving equipment onto your matting system safe and easy.
Simple and Flexible
Our heavy-duty transition ramp mats allow for even the largest of crawler cranes to climb onto a matting platform. Our mats are designed with larger diameter exposed lifting bolts so they’re easy to move into place, countersunk nuts, and flush-cut long bolts.
These mats can be built in any length of up to 40’, but the most commonly used size is our 12”x4’x16’. Transition ramp mats can also be built using hardwood, softwood, and composite materials.
We also offer a reinforced steel transition mat using a 1/2″x4’x4’ steel plate and a 1-1/4″ diameter lifting bots. The steel plate helps the narrowest part of the mat withstand the high stress and weight of heavy equipment and in turn, protects your investment.
